If you are considering an extramarital affair, or are already involved in an affair, you might want to ask yourself exactly what type of relationship you're seeking. The type of affair you pursue can be influenced by a number of different factors.
Long and short term affairs have a number of common features. You'll find that some of the guidelines found in the next few pages are similar if not identical for both long and short term affairs. They also have some basic differences. Answering the following questions might help you decide what it is you're doing or are planning to do:

• Are you planning on a relationship which lasts longer than a week?
• Have you seen your lover more than 3 times and have intentions of seeing them again?
• Do you wish to continue seeing your lover over an extended period of time?
• Are you are good at sticking to a plan over a long period of time?
• Do you usually think clearly in stressful situations?

If you answer yes to any of the above questions, you may want to consider a Long Term Affair.

• Are you planning a short relationship which will last no more than a week?
• Will your encounters with your lover will be limited to 2 or 3 times total?
• Are you just looking for a single sexual escapade?
• Are you only looking for something that happens infrequently?
• Is a one night stand all you think you could handle without getting caught up in a relationship?
• Are the risks of a longer extramarital relationship unacceptable to you?
• Do you tend to second guess yourself often?

If you answer yes to any of the above questions, you may want to consider a Short Term Affair.
